"I take walks several times during my painting day just to move and clear my mind. While painting
Transcendental Turtles, I began to notice on the road the lines that were cracks in the asphalt and the
shapes formed by the lines. Many of the shapes looked like those in the turtles’ shells. I began taking
pictures of the cracks and enjoying them as they took on a life of their own."
“The wall that inspired this series is a huge retainer wall made up of large slabs of cement. Water seepage through the seams of these slabs has been the paint brush carrying minerals from the rocks and earth behind them. Depositing greens, greys, burnt sienna, black and white at will.
